Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Using high intensity light, lasers can focus on and treat small targeted areas, delivering optimum results. We provide the most advanced dermatology laser treatments available for medical skin conditions and cosmetic desires.
We utilize lasers in a variety of procedures, including:
- Hair removal
- Treatment for brown spots
- Reduction of wrinkles
- Birthmark removal
- Tattoo removal
- Skin rejuvenation
- Acne Therapy
Laser treatments can provide optimal, long-lasting results in a shorter period of time. Side effects include temporary discomfort, redness, bruising, blistering and/or crusting around the treated area.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels remove a layer of skin, allowing the skin to grow back smoother than before and with reduced imperfections, leaving you with a younger, fresher appearance.
There are several types of chemical peels available, including:
- Light chemical peel: These chemical peels are used to improve dry skin, acne and uneven pigmentation.
- Medium chemical peel: This type of chemical peel is most often used to treat uneven pigmentation, wrinkles and acne scars.
- Deep chemical peel: Deep chemical peels are used to smooth deeper wrinkles and remove major blotching, usually caused by aging or extensive sun exposure.
The type of chemical peel being received will determine the specific aspects of the procedure. Below is a general protocol of a chemical peel procedure.
- Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and if necessary, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the targeted area.
- The chemical peel solution will then be applied. Patients can expect to feel a slight tingling or stinging sensation as the peel is being applied.
- Once the peel solution has set on the skin for the prescribed amount of time, it is washed off with water.
- A soothing ointment will then be applied.
Your doctor will provide you with aftercare instructions and prescribe a mild pain reliever for any discomfort following the procedure. Multiple chemical peels may be necessary depending on the strength of the peel received and your skin condition.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is especially for those with less than perfect skin. This procedure can effectively treat sun damage, age spots, acne and other conditions. The treatment removes the uppermost layer of skin and dead skin cells to reveal a healthier appearance. The exfoliation helps to revitalize the skin and encourage blood flow. We will consult with you on the treatment plan we feel will achieve your desired results. Ask us about our microdermabrasion system if you’re interested in improving the overall appearance of your skin.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a widely used, non-surgical procedure that eliminates spider and varicose veins. Often used as an alternative to surgery, sclerotherapy can reduce or eliminate spider and varicose veins in one to six treatments, depending on the extent of the problem and patient compliance following the procedure.
During the procedure, using an ultra-fine needle, your dermatologist will inject a solution directly into the targeted vein. As the solution is being injected, you may experience mild discomfort and cramping for a few minutes. The procedure usually takes between 15-30 minutes. Most patients can resume normal daily activities immediately following the procedure.
